I have been wanting to get into MTGO cause I usually can’t make it to FNM, and I thought being on a Mac would stop that, How can I get MTGO on my mac?

I play Magic Online on a Mac via Windows 7 (64 bit) running in Virtual Box, which is a free desktop VM. I'm using a fairly old Mac, too (mid-2012 13' MB Pro, 2.6 Ghz i5 with 16 gb RAM), and performance is acceptable. The MTGO client is a way bigger crap-shoot than a VM. To put it simply, do not expect a version of MTGO for mac because it currently isn't worth the amount fo money and time it would take to develop for a much smaller subset of the online magic community. I think the stat was 8% of current magic: the gathering players use a MAC and that not enough of a market share to truly devote resources to. I get this question a lot. Here is the setup I use, it’s pretty easy:
1. Virtualization software
This is different than emulation software, and there are two main products for this: Parallels Desktop and VMWare Fusion. I use Parallels but have used VMWare in the past and been pleased. You need to purchase this software and install it on your Mac. This will allow you to install and run Windows while running OSX.

2. Windows
You will need a licensed copy of Windows to install as a virtual machine on your Mac. You can install any Windows OS that will run MTGO, I use Windows 7 as I find it the most stable, with the least maintenance.
After you get Parallels or similar installed, you can install Windows as a virtual machine. Your chosen program will give you instructions and they have really made it very easy to do this. Then just install MTGO on Windows and your are good to go.
Another option if you don’t need to run Windows at the same time as using Boot Camp, which is free and comes preinstalled on your Mac computer. This is called “Dual-booting”, where instead of running Mac OSX and Windows at the same time, you choose which one you want to run when you turn on the computer. You still have to have a licensed copy of Windows to do this.
You can install Windows and MTGO on it and just boot into a Windows machine when you want to play. This is not particularly convenient though as you have to reboot the computer just to play MTGO and you can’t access your Mac apps while you are doing this.
I recommend just shelling out some extra money for Parallels or VMWare Fusion, as they run excellently on both my 11″ Macbook Air and my 27″ iMac.
**MTGO V4 Update 7/23/14**
I had terrible issues with the V4 client shortly after its launch. The client would boot me 4-5 times per draft, forcing me to relog and miss picks.

If you have your Parallels Virtual Machine configured in the default manner, the network connection type will be Shared Network, as seen here:
The problem is that it will renew the DHCP Lease every 30 minutes with this setup. This shouldn’t be an issue, but the V4 client of MTGO is touchy about the connection, and will boot you every time it resets.
If you change your “Type” to Default Adapter like this:
The program will renew the lease every 24 hours, eliminating the problem.
If you find yourself with constant disconnect issues, this should fix it (it did for me).

Wizards of the Coast revealed today that Magic: the Gathering Arena will be coming to MacOS “by the end of summer.”
A MacOS version of MTG Arena was first announced last year and was scheduled to come “shorty after” the game was released on the Epic Games Store in January. After few months of waiting, we now know that Wizards is “targeting delivery [on MacOS] somewhere around summer of this year,” according to Principal Game Designer Jay Parker.

The Transition to 64-Bit
Wizards said that the delayed Mac release is due to their ongoing transition to a 64-bit game client. Apple’s latest operating system, MacOS Catalina, released last year and ended support for legacy 32-bit applications. Wizards is currently transitioning its Windows client to a 64-bit architecture and, since they want to support the newest version of MacOS (which only allows 64-bit applications), they need to complete that transition before releasing MTG Arena’s Mac version.

MTG Arena’s 64-bit client will debut with the June 2020 game update, at which point the current 32-bit client will be retired. Wizards is working with Skybox Labs, a development studio based in Vancouver, BC, to complete the 64-bit Mac client “with the plan to release a macOS client by the end of summer.”

Since the release of Magic: the Gathering Online (neé Magic Online with Digital Objects) on PC in June 2002, one of the biggest community complaints about Magic’s digital form was that it was only available on PC—not on Mac. That trend continued when MTG Arena was announced in 2017 as PC-only to start.
But a few months later, in an interview with Hipsters of the Coast, Wizards CEO Chris Cocks said that they were intended to bring MTG Arena to Mac eventually. “We will support other platforms like Mac,” Cocks said. “[T]hat likely won’t be until either the later stages of the Beta or around when we declare it as a launch game, but Mac will be a platform that supported as well as all the other platforms you would expect us to do.”

It took a bit longer than expected—around a year after launch, if the current schedule holds—but Magic will be making its debut on Mac and mobile in 2020.
